Permaculture Workshops

I offer a workshop on Permaculture gardening that is applicable to homes and schools. It is conducted at my home near downtown Greensboro on a small lot, 50’ x 150’ in an old neighborhood, Westerwood. There I have created a functional, yet beautiful, edible landscape that has been called an urban farm and has been the subject of several magazine articles and an hour-long TV program.

I grow 15 types of fruit ( and often several varieties of one type), food for 4-6 people, store rain water in “carpet” ponds and rain barrels, take care of bees, harvest all-year around, and lead a happy life with my wife Debby.

The workshop is usually offered in April and September, runs from 10am-3pm and includes a scrumptious lunch. It has been attended by hundreds of people and visitors to my garden number in the thousands. For up to date information on times and cost, see my Blog: Charlie’s Revolutionary Garden or contact me at charlie.headingon@gmail.com.

In the workshop you learn to:

  • Garden in all four seasons
  • Grow 15 kinds of fruit in your backyard
  • Select the right fruits and vegetables
  • Cultivate soil by sheet-mulching, not tilling
  • Build inexpensive, self-maintaining ponds
  • Compost all through the garden
  • Find the best plants, books, resources
  • Enjoy a low-maintenance, productive garden
